Visitor Identification: See Who’s Looking at Your Properties

Introducing Visitor Identification, a new add-on capability for LOIS and LocationOne subscribers

If you market sites and buildings for economic development or industrial real estate, you spend a lot of time thinking about visibility and distribution. You want site selectors, corporate real estate professionals and decision-makers to find your properties, spend time exploring them and come away wanting to know more. Traditional website visitor traffic can tell you a lot about total activity, including how many people are visiting, which properties are getting attention and from where geographically that traffic is originating from. What it has not been able to tell you is who those visitors actually are.

Visitor Identification helps LOIS and LocationOne subscribers see available information about the people and companies viewing their property listings, including who they are, where they work, and which properties they viewed.

That matters because there is a big difference between knowing that a property received ten views and knowing that someone from a company you would love to recruit has been spending time looking at it.

See Who Is Researching Your Properties Before They Reach Out

The new Visitor Identification capability available through LOIS and LocationOne is here to change that picture. When the capability is added to an account, our subscribers can see much more information about the people and companies engaging with their properties. When an individual visitor can be identified, available details will include their name, job title, company, email address, phone number, and LinkedIn profile, along with the pages and properties they viewed. Company-level identification details include industry sector, number of employees, revenue, and website domain.

The exciting part is how this information can help your team understand and make more informed decisions.

A corporate real estate professional may be researching one of your sites before reaching out. A company in a target industry may be comparing several properties in your portfolio. Someone may return to the same listing multiple times while quietly narrowing down options. Traditional website visitor analytics can show you that page visits happened, but Visitor Identification can add context to the activity and help you better understand where genuine interest may be developing.

See What You Can Learn About Your Property Visitors

To help LOIS and LocationOne subscribers better understand how to access the Visitor Identification feature after logging into the platform, Amy White walks through the new capability in the video below. She shows where to find the information, what details are available, and how the data can help provide a clearer picture of the people and companies engaging with your properties.

Why This Matters Earlier in the Site Selection Process

Visitor Identification is especially valuable because site selection begins long before anyone contacts your organization. Companies and their site selection advisors may spend weeks or months researching communities, studying infrastructure and comparing properties before an economic development organization ever hears from them.

Visitor Identification gives LOIS and LocationOne subscribers another way to see into that earlier stage of the process. Instead of only knowing that a property was viewed, your team will have more context about who is showing interest and what they are exploring.

Traditional website visitor analytics still tells an important part of the story by showing how your property marketing is performing overall. Visitor Identification adds another layer by helping you understand more about who may be behind that activity and what they are interested in.

For economic development and industrial real estate organizations, that can turn a page view into something much more useful.

Built into LOIS and LocationOne

Visitor Identification fits naturally into the platforms our subscribers are already using. It is available after logging into the LOIS or LocationOne administrative experience, in the Tools section, with no additional tracking code for a subscribers marketing or website team to install and no separate system to manage.

Your properties may already be on someone’s list. A company may already be researching your community. A site selector may already be taking a closer look. With Visitor Identification, that interest no longer has to happen completely out of sight.

What is Visitor Identification?
Visitor Identification is an optional capability that helps economic development organizations and industrial real estate teams see more information about the people and companies engaging with their properties. Subscribers will see details such as a visitor’s name, job title, company, location, industry, contact information, LinkedIn profile, and the properties they viewed. Company-level identification may also provide details about property visits from outside the United States.
Traditional website analytics helps organizations understand overall website visitor traffic, including number of page views, total visit sessions, where traffic sources originated from and which properties are receiving the most attention. Visitor Identification serves a different purpose by adding details about who may be behind activity.
No additional tracking code or technical setup is required from a subscribers’ marketing or website team. Visitor Identification is built into the platform and can be activated as an optional feature addition to an existing subscriber’s account.
